I have dreamed of designing a house for a long time. The first house design I drew as a young girl included a trampoline room with padded walls. With twenty years of time, my tastes have evolved, but what hasn't changed is the idea of designing a house around kids, specifically my own 4.
As I pondered how to design a house for our family, I began to realize that I am not designing just a house, I am designing a home. The word home carries so much more than the word house, and that is how this DWELL girl came to realize that I'm not a true modernist at heart. Yes, you heard me right! I am discovering that I'd like a slice of apple pie with that Eames rocker. So, on that note, I am beginning a blog to catalog all of my favorite things about home design. I'm leaving the house at the door.

I love it already!!! I can't wait to see all of your ideas! Also, I'm assuming you're probably going to keep this because it's so flippin' sweet, but if you want to sell/get rid of your red chandelier, know that you have an eager buyer in me!
ReplyDeleteLooooove you!
So very exciting! You guys are a few steps ahead of our us...so it will be fun to hear about how things progress for you all.
ReplyDeleteI too agree with you in regard to the use of the word house. No matter where we (my famly) live I always aim to make a home there A home that brings glory to God. A place where comfort can be found, peace and quite, learning and fun activity. Rather than just filling my house with stuff and using it...I try to be thoughtful as to what stuff and colors grace our presence. Happy creating!
If in the midst of all of the paint touch ups and staging you would like someone to come up and entertain your kiddos, we would be more than happy to do so.
Check out the introspective revelation! Pow! Solid work, Pearl - it will be so fun to see ALL your design thoughts in one *hot* spot!
ReplyDeleteLove you woman,
